A rare museum in Japan dedicated to Western learning, showcasing the achievements fo scholars associated with Tsuyama who played important roles from the late Edo period to the early Meiji period. Among them are Genzui Udagawa, who translated and published Japan’s first Western medical textbook on internal medicine, and Mitsukuri Genpo, who translated the official letter from the United States that Commodore Perry brought to Japan.
