Lucila Gradín was born in San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina in 1981. She lives and works in Buenos Aires. She has a degree in visual art from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA). In 2011, she was a fellow at the Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas (CIA) in Buenos Aires. For the past ten years, she has collaborated with a team of women heelers, doctors, philosophers, biologists, and others on a herbarium of medicinal and dye plants. She has participated in the following artists’ residencies: Residencias Artísticas de la Secretaría de Patrimonio Cultural in Los Alerces National Park, Argentina (2022); PROA21, Fundación Proa, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2022); La Ira de Dios, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2018); Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), São Pablo, Brazil (2015); El Ranchito, Matadero, Madrid, Spain (2014); Vermont Studio Center, Vermont, USA (2013). She was awarded the Oxenford Fellowship in 2020 and the FNA-Fondo Nacional de las Artes Fellowship in 2019. She participated in BienalSur in 2017 and 2021, and in the Bienal de Dibujo in 2019 and 2021. With Andres Pasinovich, she created Marabunta, a program for Argentine artists and curators from the rest of the Spanish-speaking world, among them Cuauhtemoc Medina (Mexico), Moacir Dos Anjos (Brazil), Sol Henaro (Mexico), Miguel López (Peru), Helena Chavez Mac Gregor (Mexico), Florencia Portocarrero (Peru), Tainá Azeredo (Brazil), Marta Ramos (Brazil), Agustín Perez Rubio (Spain), and Itzel Vargas (Mexico). As the co-director, with Fernanda Vilella, of the Colectivo A.L.A Artistas en Latinoamérica, she has participated in the following artists’ residencies: Fundación cinenómada para las artes, Sorojchi Tambo, La Paz, Bolivia (2014); Residencia Taller 7, Medellín, Colombia (2012); Los nuevos sensibles, Vicente Vargas Estudio, Valparaíso, Chile (2011); and Barracao maravilha, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2010).
