Yuka Mori was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1991 and raised in Shiga Prefecture.
She studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris as an exchange student and received a master’s degree in Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) from Kyoto City University of Arts in 2016. She is currently based in Kyoto.
Mori depicts how the body and environment contain each other and remain in fluid change, based on her own experience and sensibility. She began sketching plants in 2019, and is also producing paintings inspired by the corporeality of plants. Her main exhibitions include the solo exhibition Spreading Vein (Gallery SUJIN, 2019), the duo exhibition Responses in Flux (LOKO Gallery, 2021), and the solo exhibitions Portrait in the Rain, Dohjidai Gallery, 2021), and Yuka Mori Solo Exhibition (toutou gallery, 2023). She was an artist-in-residence in the artbiotop program (Nasu, 2022), and has also participated in many art fairs in Japan and other countries.
